Snowboarding the day away...

We woke up to another cloudy, snowy, windy day in Mt Buller.

We had another early start with an 8.30-9.30 lesson with our instructor (if anyone is going to Mt Buller and wants to learn to snowboard - ask for Alex Welch - really chilled out American dude).

We spent most of the time doing runs and practicing our turns, and by the end of the lesson Ben had got a few S turns down, and I made it down most of the run without stacking it. The lesson was a great start to the day, and helped both of us feel more comfortable with snowboarding.

After our lesson we made our way halfway down the run and got on the to the bottom of the run to the Holden Express and tried out a new run, Baldy, which was way less crowded than Bourke St but the visibility was really bad. We decided to go down together/meet at every second chairlift pole to make sure we didn't get lost. Although this was pretty icy in parts we had lots of fun and we both had some good turns happening. We made our way onto Bourke St and down that and then went and had a Chai latte and a coffee at the Powder Bar and chilled out for a bit. We put our gear back on and caught the chairlift back up to the Arlberg.

Here Ben called it a day and got his laptop out and set himself up on a table with a good view while I headed back out for a few more runs.

I went back up the Holden Express and had a good few runs down - I ended up taking off my goggles as the visibility was really bad and it was a lot easier to see.

Ben was still in the same place I left him so we headed back to our room. I went back down to the village on the bus to grab a few more supplies from the supermarket and ran into our instructor again and had a quick chat.

I caught the bus back up to Arlberg, just in time for Midsomer Murders - the opening credits had just finished when I walked through the door.

Another cruisy night in at the hotel, resting our tired legs in preparation for another day in the snow tomorrow.
