New runs and blue runs...
Today started off pretty chilly, with not much visibility.
Had our usual for breakfast (I went for fruit toast and cornflakes - or was it nutrigrain? - and Ben went for toast with peanut butter and Just Right) then we headed out for our lesson. We got set up on our boards just outside the hotel and made our way down the hill to the ski school - we both fell over a bit because the snow was so deep and powdery.
We met up with Alex again, this time for a 1.5hr lesson. We went down Bourke St and then halfway down to the Abom chair which took us to the top. The conditions at the top were so windy it was crazy, so we made our way to Shaky Knees which is a blue run. It was way more sheltered and nice and uncrowded and I made it down pretty well, linking a lot of my turns.
We headed up on the chairlift and watched some people ski between the trees below us, then made our way back to the top of Shaky Knees and went down again. I was pretty happy overall, and Ben also gained a bit of confidence as well. After our lesson was over we headed back to our hotel to warm up and to rest. I kept on cramping my right lower calf, probably because I wasn't putting enough weight on my left foot, and also because my arch wasn't taped up.
I chilled out in the room while Ben went out into the lounge area. After an hour we headed out again because the weather improved a heap so we went out and hit the slopes again.
We did a couple of runs down Bourke St, then grabbed a couple of burgers from Burger Haus for lunch. We made our way back to the hotel and called it a day. Today was great fun, and the weather clearing up made a huge difference.
The Arlberg has a guest laundry so we used some time in the afteroon to do a load of washing/drying - which worked out pretty well.
After watching Midsomers we went out to the lounge to check out the view and sit by the fire and had a tasty snack.
