On the road again...

We woke up and headed out to a nearby laneway for a quick bite to eat, before checking out and catching the tram to the Arts Precinct, where our carriage was waiting for us!

Ski Express

The bus driver put on a movie - Mr Peabody and Sherman - which kept me entertained for 1.5hrs, then I had a little sleep, and then saw lots of cows, horses, sheep and baby lambs on the way to the mountain.

From a distance, Mt Buller looks fairly unassuming, however was quite a windy trip up, traversing back and forth acrosss the mountainside and arriving in the Mt Buller village carpark. We then were assigned a Snow Taxi which took us up to the Arlberg Hotel, our home for the next while.

Everything on the mountain is expensive, so I settled on the Arlberg Hotel as it was true ski in/ski out, right on the Bourke St run, leading down to the ski school and a chairlift.

Our room wasn't quite ready yet so we caught a bus just outside down to the village area and had a wander around. We even stumbled across some donuts, underneath the stairs - warm and delicious!

Donuts

We walked up a path off to the side of the main run and made our way back to the Arlberg, and this time our room was ready.

The room was fairly basic, but had a mini fridge, small table and chairs, shower and bathroom, and we even had a pretty good view.

The hotel also has a gear shop, so we went to pick up our hire gear - snowboarding equipment - for tomorrow.

Geared up Boards

We settled into our room, had a butterscotch schnapps, and decided to just have dinner in the restaurant at the hotel, Nooky's.

Schnapps

I went for ribs, and Ben for Chicken parma, and both were OK, if a little pricey. Service was very slow even though they weren't busy. I am not sure we will be back this week unless desperate.

Parma and ribs

We drifted off to sleep with the sound of the snow making machines and groomers tidying up the runs, ready for us tomorrow morning.
