And here we go again - Snowpocalypse 2014...
At the start of the year we decided that it would be a good idea to go skiing and snowboarding - but due to our dodgy knees we thought it would be great to go in Australia, rather than go overseas and be stuck in another country in a ski resort if we just couldn't hack it.
As I was playing in the Australian Floorball Open in Perth on Wed-Fri, but we wanted to go to a Geelong game lunchtime Saturday, and we we going to the Theatre on Friday night, the only time left to travel was the midnight horror on Fri nigh/Sat morning.
Ben had 3 hrs sleep, while I watched Divergent, ate Rocky Road, Arancini, fruit salad and a savoury pumpkin muffin and slept for 1 hr.
We arrived in Melbourne early Saturday morning, and once again for this trip we just took carry on luggage so that we could quickly hop off the plane and grab a taxi - which we did.
We arrived at the hotel - the Novotel on Collins - and checked in at 7am and proceeded to sleep for around 3.5hrs.
We woke up, I went and bought some ski gloves, then we headed to the MCG and went in early for MCG dining.
Melbourne was bitterly cold, so I was really thankful that we had an enclosed, warm area, that we could have a nice lunch in, and then I could sit in while Ben went outside for the "atmosphere".
I had a poached chicken and salsa entree with lamb shoulder for my main.
At half time we also were provided sausage rolls, mini party pies and delicious scones with jam and cream!
After the big win by Geelong, we had arranged to meet Ben's Mum and have dinner, and we ended up at Cumulus. We had never been there before, and really enjoyed it. Baked mussels, tuna cevice, foie gras and a whole baby snapper, followed by a rhubarb dessert. We shared the dessert which I should have just eaten on myself because it was so tasty - straciatella icecream, with sorrel and rhubarb.
We then headed back to our hotel in the freezing weather and went to asleep - ready for a travel day tomorrow!
