Shannnon

I'll have what (s)he's having...

We awoke to a lovely warm morning and headed to breakfast to check out the buffet offering.

Sunny Breakfast

While eating we noticed some orchids growing from a tree nearby, they put them in an old coconut and strap them to the tree.

Orchids

Then headed to the pool for a chill out then to Scuba froggy to fill in forms and organise our dive trips.

Life is hard Reading

Never too early Never too early for a slushie

Through our scouting the day before we had found a bar that shows afl games so off we went. Luckily they have a husband minding service so I dropped him off and went for a massage.

Husband minding service - non-dodgy AFL

I went to Orchid for a 1 hr massage for around $6 (compared to $45 at the resort), which was pretty good. I got a laundry recommendation which was just across the road from the massage place. For $1.50/kg of washing we will be dropping our clothes there to be sure.

I headed back to pick up Ben, who had made some WA friends at the bar. Geelong was way in front so that made Ben quite a happy chappy.

Ben had also been chatting to the bar tender and had eyed off his lunch. It came in a triangular shape and was rice and chicken and sambal with a salted duck egg. He asked him where he got it from and he pointed roughly in the direction of the street. So we decided to try and find it with that and only that infomation.

After walking up and back the street several times I spied a triangular parcel from a street vendor and we decided to dive in. The lady didn't speak any English but we managed to get a plate and eat on her bench - for the princely sum on $1.

Street food

It was really tasty, with tofu and spicy sambal and some vegetables all in one dish. Now all we have to do is wait it out and see if our stomachs can handle it.

Back at the hotel we headed to the pool to read and chill out, with a few slushies and cocktails throughout the afternoon.

Wedding setup Coconut

We had heard that there was a tasty restaurant just up the beach called the Lotus Flower so we trekked the 20m up the beach and headed into the Italian restaurant.

They also had Indonesian food so we went for the Seafood Lumpia (spring rolls), Plecing Kangkung (vegetables), Nasi Goteng Lotus (fried rice, chicken satay, egg, pineapple) and Indonesian Chicken curry.

Spring rolls Veggies

We were onto a winner here, everything was deliciously spicy, and we ended up mixing our vegetables in with the Nasi Goreng which was a good idea. The veggies came with fresh shaved coconut and a generous helping of sambal and missing with the rice spread the spice out.

Chicken curry Nasi Goreng

We finished off with Balinese crepes, pancakes with banana, palm sugar and grated coconut - to share.

Balinese tasty pancakes

We finished up in time for happy hour at the hotel, and sat next to some whining pons which was entertaining in itself. From complaining about the singing at the wedding, to tuna being overfished, to the wait staff being surly(which they definitely weren't) - everything was doom and gloom - hilarious.

Evening cocktails

Tomorrow a new adventure awaits- diving!
