Our last day in San Sebastian...
We skipped breakfast (oh no) as I slept in quite late, and we had a lot of things to do today. Museum, Jesus, Aquarium, Tapas crawl.
We started off with the Museum which was cool, built on the old monastery/church and with some crazy presentation skills. This cathedral (below) turns off all the lights and has a moving presentation which shows the history and present of the area.
We had a look through at some old swords, artwork and the grounds, then headed up to see Jesus.
Jesus is up a bit hill, overlooking the town, on top of cannons. Jesus protects and defends.
It was a pretty windy day and we took the long way/view way to the top.
Jesus!
The top of this hill used to be the city’s defence on the sea side. The city used to stop just above the tree line - along the avenue (one side has much taller buildings than the other).
Next stop - Aquarium! This is part museum, part aquarium so the first part is bit strange. But the aquarium was cool.
A fishy tried to eat my finger and Ben touched the tail of one!
And now our last tapas crawl! We started early and only hit a few favourites.
Got some mushroom ravioli, risotto at one place.
Some goats cheese and beef cheeks at another, and then to my favourite.
Old dudes place aka Bar Martinez. This is the cool old school place, and as we had come here 5 times in the last week we had made some friends.
The drink to have here - Txakoli.
Tried some cheese balls, had some pimientos with anchovy, croquettas, and pimientos.
At the end of it I had a chat to one of the dudes and said we were leaving but their place was awesome and we were there 2 years ago. He disappears and comes back with some cool Bar Martinez keyrings for us! Awesomeness! Thanks cool dude.
Our time in San Sebastian draws to a close :(
Had a great time here again, will have to come back in another 2 years.
