Road trip - Sevilla to Madrid...
We headed off to Madrid (a nice 5ish hr drive) and stopped off and grabbed a few things for lunch.
Bocadillo de Jamon (sandwich of jamon) and tortilla de patates (potato).
The drive was fairly traffic free, and we saw a few more sunflower fields.
After arriving in Madrid we found our hotel, ME Madrid Reina Victoria, which is on the Plaza Santa Ana, and pretty centrally located.
We got all our stuff in the hotel, and headed out to do some washing. Thankfully the lavanderia is only a few minutes walk from our hotel, so we spent the afternoon there washing our clothes.
Then it was down to the Plaza for a quick dinner. We headed to a place called Lateral, and had some brie with capsicum on toast (delicious), croquettas with jamon (pretty good), crazy tortilla de patates (awesomely gooey in the middle and great), hambergesas (good), roasted capsicum stuffed with mince (delicious) and deep fried eggplants to dip in a salsa (little it greasy).
This place was pretty good for a drink or two and some food to make up for our relative lack of food during the day.
In Spain dinner is usually 9pm or later. 9pm is actually a bit early. But thats pretty much the time we go for dinner. The light is also pretty crazy - it doesn’t go dark until 10.30pm so it feels about 6pm when you head out for dinner at 9.
Tomorrow - churro hunt (again)!
