Autobahns, roadworks and fluro pants...
We left Brussels around 9am, for our road trip to Munich, Germany. Yes it is about an 800km drive, and it took us about 9 hrs in total. Quick stop for morning croissants.
It started off quite well, but there was just so much roadworks it was not funny. One minute you are going 130km/hr, next minute you are going 20km/hr. Repeat about 10 times during the trip - it got a bit tiresome. Anyway, all the roadwork guys don’t wear safety vests or tshirts like they do back home, they all wear fluro shorts, or long fluro pants - and you top it off with a check shirts. Thats how it’s done over here.
Halfway through we stopped for a quick pretzel, which was OK. Ben’s tasted much better than mine.
Then the storms came. It was absolutely pelting down with rain and there was lightning and the thunder made the car vibrate. It was pretty full on for about an hour. But we drove through it, and it was nice and sunny for the remainder of our drive.
We arrived in Munich, and checked in at the Hotel Bavaria, which was good in terms of there was parking across the road in a secure carpark.
Following the hotels information booklet, we decided to go to Augustiner Braustuben which was only a block or two away.
It was a fairly large place, and we got put at a table with a few other couples, and where is one lot from? Mandurah. Lol.
After finishing our meal of Brewmasters special (Ben’s), white sausages, and pork roast with dumplings and saurkraut, we ended up having a chat for a while to the Mandurah couple, who were halfway through their 6 week trip and I think they were really craving some English speaking company. We had a good time, then headed back to the hotel to crash.
