Poirot land - Une part...

We had a nice drive to Brussels, stopping off at a service station for a delicious croissant and vienoisse au chocolate. Why are the pastries so much better in Europe?

Chocolat!

Thankfully this time we have a GPS with our car, which is definitely better than what we did last time. Arrived in Brussels around 12, and after a bit of driving, found our hotel. We stayed at the Be Manos, which is about 15 mins walk from the centre of Brussels.

We headed in for a walk around, saw the Grand Platz, had a wander and stopped and had a beer(Ben) and coke(me).

Drinks

Went back to the hotel for some dinner recon (it was Sunday in Brussels and a lot of places are closed) and found this place, and the nice man at reception kindly rang up and booked for us. In the mean time we watched Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home, hadn’t seen it in years.

Bozar Bozar

As our French is not so great, we looked up the menu on the internet first, used google translate to convert it, and took screen shots of it to take with us.

Frenchish Englishish

This was a fantastic find, the food was so tasty. By the time they figured out we couldn’t speak much French-ish we had already deciphered the menu and chosen our meals.

To start off with was a pea and cauliflower broth, with nuts on top - I wish I knew how to make this, because it would be an awesome soup to have in winter.

Foamy

The carpaccio of beef melted in my mouth, and the parmesan cream was light and not overpowering. It was huge, so Ben had to help me finish it off.

Not beef tartar

Then I had the most delicious lamb and the best mashed potatoes ever.

Best mashed potatoes EVER

The only downside was it was huge and I wasn’t able to finish it (but I did finish the potatoes - they were heavenly).

We saw another table have a dessert of rouge fruits, so we asked to have what they were having. The fruits and yoghurt were light and tasty, and was a nice way to finish off our meal.

Rouge fruits

PS. We didn’t find Poirot, and there was a substantial lack of Poirot-esque moustaches. Very disappointing.
