Cheese and guns...
Our next flight from Dubai to Paris was on the new A380 and so we were upstairs in the Business class section. It was a bit strange having the whole of the top level as Business and First, and the service was definitely lacking compared to our first flight.
A lot has been said about the new Emirates seats on the A380, and we chose the ones in the middle that are next to each other, pretty much every other seat is aimed at privacy for individual travellers.
If you were a large person I think you would find it difficult getting into some of these seats. I had to turn sideways to get in and there wasn’t much room. Once you were in, the seat was nice, and was completely lie flat, although I thought this seat was skinnier than the previous flights seat.
There was also a few technical issues on our flight, and they had to reset the whole plane before takeoff. However, the flowers on the wall in the cabin were a nice touch.
Towards the end of my flight my seat also chucked a wobbly and decided it did not want to move from its reclined position so our seats had to be reset, which meant about 20 mins of not being able to use the ICE system. After having such a great flight and great service from Perth to Dubai, it was more like you were in premium economy with more room but not much better service. The did not seem to be able to co-ordinate service on both sides of the aisle, despite us being in the second row from the front, which meant that I would have a drink, and then 5 mins later Ben would get a drink, and so on.
The food was still pretty tasty and I had the Arabian Mezze plate, the rack of lamb (which was a bit chewy) and the cheese platter for after.
Why would you give someone so much cheese and only 3 biscuits? I don’t know.
Had about an hours sleep on this flight as we left Dubai around 8am and arrived in Paris about 2.30pm. It was still a good flight, but I am definitely looking forward to our 777-300 flight on the way home more than the A380 leg.
I am always surprised arriving at Paris and not having to go through Quarantine, which takes forever at Perth Airport. You just walk past some guys with guns, and you are out.
