Auf wiedersein Munich, Ciao Italy....

So we decided not to end our German tour on a low note, so headed back to ArzMiller for breakfast. This time we didn’t make the same rookie mistake, and we had an apfel strudel each. It was kind of like a baklava but instead of nuts, apple. And crumble.

We decided to go past a glass factory in Austria, so we headed that way. Riedel glass was pretty cool, and we had a look at them making wine glasses and decanters from the viewing platform. Each piece is individually blown by hand and so no two pieces are exactly the same. It was also pretty hot in there so it was a good thing that they had their lunch break as we were getting hot watching them make glasses and decanters. I took a video of them making a decanter, it is pretty crazy.

We then headed onto Innsbruck and stopped and had a nice lunch at a little Italian place. Piazze Diavolo and Tagliatelle al Porcini - both were tasty. The pizza was fresh and not oily and the mushroom pasta was perfect - enough mushrooms in there but not too many.

Coke Tastiness Yummy Chilli oil? Yes please

It was then on to Bologna - another 4 ish hour drive. I drove the whole way today so was pretty tired at the end.

At Bologna we are staying in the Hotel Aemilia, and decided to stay in a Junior suite (only a few Euros more and a bigger room).

We couldn’t really be bothered going anywhere for dinner, so hotel restaurant it was. Surprisingly good, we shared a salumi platter of meats and cheeses, I had Tortillini con Brodo and Ben had Spaghetti with leeks and scallops. My pasta in chicken broth was very good. We shared a bottle of red wine, which was easy to drink.

That was about it for today! We are in Bologna for 5 days, but will be doing some day trips around the place.
